Warriors get set

30/ 6/2007

ROCHDALE'S latest arrival on the open-age rugby league scene, Balderstone Warriors, is up and running thanks to generous support from sponsors.

Nauman Hayee of Unique Sports has provided balls, tackling bags and training equipment to set the new club, which has joined the Pennine League next season, on its way.

A new kit has been supplied by Kirkholt and Balderstone Labour Party, thanks to Councillors Allen Brett and Darren Pedley. And Andy of Strand Taxis has chipped in to help the lads.

Warriors' player-coach Mark Pilling is delighted with the response, and has 30 players reporting for training at Balderstone on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm - new players welcome.

With the first competitive match for the club a pre-season cup-tie against Mayfield A in early August he couldn't have asked for a better start.

If anyone would like further information on the Warriors they can contact Mark or Louise on 07895 046181.
