Weavers move closer to title

Rochdale Online Alliance League

WEAVERS inched closer to a possible title success in the Rochdale Online Alliance League's BKC Trophies Premier Division.

They are now six points clear of their rivals thanks to a 2-1 away win over second place Wardle.

Weavers dominated a sometimes heated encounter for 60 minutes, but Wardle then got to grips.

Dewhurst pulled one back with 10 minutes left, but there was no equaliser for the home team.

Taylor and Hands netted for Weavers.

Asia managed only one goal in their away match against Sudden, but it was enough to give them the spoils. Kadar was the scorer.

Tophams Tavern romped to an 8-2 home win over Milnrow.

Spotland Reform, leaders of the Asia Restaurant Division One, coasted to a 9-0 away win over Joiners.

It could have been a lot more but for some poor finishing in a very one-sided game.

It was 4-0 at half time and over as a contest.

Sykes (3), Howarth (2), Murray (2), Simm and Bradburn were the scorers.

Dog and Partridge edged out Hargreaves by the odd goal in five. Their scorers were Cairns, Rhodes and Buckley. Sherratt and Harrison replied.

Dog Inn always looked the better side in their 3-2 away win over Asia seconds. Lomas, McDonald and Burton saw them home. Ali and Yasir netted for Asia.

Top met bottom in the Matthew Montgomery Division Two, and the outcome was far from expected.

Brickcroft rocked the boat as goals from Ackerley (2) and Worswick saw them to a 3-0 win.

Grainger, Hall and Forshaw shared the goals in Dicken Green's 3-1 home win over F and W thirds for whom Smith scored.

Eddison struck for Donkey Dodgers, but his goal was no more than a consolation. Opponents AFC Royton banged in six through Day (2), King (2), Wild and Holmes.

Wardle thirds were good 3-1 away winners over third placed Santos, while Woolpack edged Todmorden Veterans by the odd goal in five.
