Nationwide contest beckoning for girls

GIRL-only teams from Rochdale and surrounding areas are being invited to take part in a nationwide football tournament this summer.

In conjunction with their successful soccer schools, Footie Chick, who specialise in technical equipment and sportswear for women footballers, are looking for female teams of all ages.

The north west regional qualifiers will be held at the JJB Soccer Dome over the weekend of 5 and 6 May.

The cost per team to enter is £25, and regional winning teams will receive Footie Chick goodies, tips and advise from an international player, and the Footie Chick Cup for their age group.

Runners-up will receive medals, and the opportunity to enter soccer schools, plus Footie Chick goodies.

Two Teams from each regional qualifier will go through to the final which will be held on Saturday 16 June, at the JJB Soccer Dome, Trafford, Manchester. Points to note are:

• Only five players will be permitted on a pitch at any one time. Seven players may be used throughout the event.

• All teams must turn up for registration, otherwise they will be disqualified from the tournament.

• All players must have some form of identification, showing their date of birth.

• All team players must be attired with correct footwear and shinpads/guards.

• No jewellery is permitted.

• Violent conduct on or off the pitch will lead to immediate suspension of the individual(s) concerned for the duration of the tournament.

• Refreshments and pre-training will be available.

• Rules of the game will vary in each different region.
