Hares go to the top

10/ 2/2006

TITLE favourites Hare and Hounds are now top of the Rochdale Online Alliance League's Premier Division.

Richmond Hall moved up to second place by way of a 3-1 home win over Castleton. Their goals came from Wilson, Dowsing and Edwards. Ainsley netted for the visitors.

Scoobys must have felt they had a good chance of claiming their first league win of the season when they met fellow strugglers Fothergills and Whittle's

But it was gloom again as they lost 4-2. Taylor and Law bagged two each for F and W. Royales and Lane put Scoobys on the scoresheet.

Kadar claimed a couple for Asia, but his goals were not enough as Littleborough Lake Garage edged out a 3-2 win.

Top two Milnrow and Tophams both won in Division One, while Joiners Arms beat Sudden Carling convincingly in the battle for third place.

O'Connor (3), Goodwin, Twardowski and Mullins scored in a 6-0 success.

Hankinson hit three as Tophams recorded a 4-1 away win over Fothergills and Whittle's seconds. Healey made up the total, with Wright scoring in reply.

Second placed Rope and Anchor were 4-1 home winners over PSG thanks to goals from Bonny (3) and Shaw. Hughes replied.

Dicken Green were 3-1 up after 20 minutes of the second half against Waggon and Horses, but they were given a fright by a late Waggon fightback before emerging 4-3 winners. Forshaw (2), Brook and Prince scored for Green. Brooks (2) and Bamford netted for Waggon.

AFC Royton missed a penalty and three clear chances but still beat Fothergills and Whittle's thirds 5-0. On target were Day (2). Cole (2) and Atkinson.

Brickcroft and Green Gardens Veterans rolled back the years to produce some excellent football.

Doherty gave Brickcroft an early lead, but Gardens levelled with the goal of the game from McDaid. Worswick put Brickcroft back in front and the ever dangerous Weaver settled the issue with a third for the home team.

Doherty (Brickcroft) and Bamford (Gardens) were the stars of the game. Their midfield battle was excellent.
