Gabs crumble before Gigg Lane crowd

OVER 3,000 supporters turned up at Bury's Gigg Lane to witness this demolition of Gabs.

Within 30 seconds of the game kicking off Simon Cheden had opened the scoring for the Reds, beating keeper Mark Canning with a shot from the edge of the area.

In a superb performance from the visitors, goals flowed regularly through Carden (3), Orr and Torpey as Gabs struggled to cope with the pace of the opposition.

Gabs battled away regardless, however, and scored a good first-half goal through Mathew Russell to leave themselves trailing 6-1 at the break.

Things barely improved in the second half with Carden netting his fourth and fifth goals, Joe Mitten and Josh Howard (2) completing the rout for FC United.

A goal from Marcus Smith in reply was scant consolation for a Gabs side beaten 10-2.

Gabs are at home today where they entertain Padiham.
