LAST weekend saw the continuation of poor form on local and not so local venues.

Both Newhey and District and Rochdale Walton travelled to Partridge Lakes.

Rochdale and District members were in action at Trows and Whitworth Valley fished at Lane Head.

The final positions for the Rochdale and District club championship were decided at Trows, with John Hooper collecting the top prize for the fourth consecutive year.

He amassed 249 points out of a possible 300. Second and third places were very close, with John Bartley (204) pipping Brian Jackson (199).

The last match for the KE Thompson Memorial Trophy was a dour affair which gave Tony Holcroft another win.

He netted three skimmers, one five minutes from the all-out, to weigh 2-14-8.

In second place, with just one good skimmer, was Steve Hodgeon who weighed in 2-2-0. Chris Leonard filled third place with 1-12-0 of small roach and perch.

Rochdale Walton travelled to Partridge Lakes on Saturday where weights, although they seemed fine, were much lower than expected from such a prolific fishery.

Gareth Watkins showed the way by catching carp on the pole and pellet to amass a 24-8-0 winning weight.

In second place was John Kershaw who also fished pole and pellet to catch 18-4-0 of chub. Darren Wright netted 16-2-0 of chub for third spot.

Newhey and District visited Partridge Lakes on Sunday to fish for the Watney Mann Shield.

Adam Calow had an easy win. He netted carp and chub for 14-14-0 which was more than 10lbs clear of second-placed Jack Griffin who caught 3-8-0 of chub. Third-placed Alan Buckley weighed chub for 2-13-0.

Whitworth Valley's match at Lane Head was the first of four Winter League sessions.

John Billington won with a weight of 9-11-8.

His net included skimmers, roach, a crucian and one orfe. In second place Phil Dungworth had a bream with roach to weigh 5-6-0. Mick Bentley was third with 2-15-0 of roach and perch.

The members' Wednesday sweepstake at Trows moved to the Starch Lodge where carp only count as 1lb per fish.

On a poor day Alan Buckley needed only three carp, caught on caster, to win with 3-0-0. Vinny Eyes netted several roach on caster to weigh 2-12-8. Steve Hodgeon caught three skimmers on pellet for 2-7-0 and third place.

A late result from last week when Rochdale Walton fished Syke Reservoir for the Stan Buckley Trophy.

The match secretary caught two carp late in the match to take the trophy with 15-4-0.

In second place Chris Newell caught one bream, one skimmer and some bits for 5-12-0. Graydon Bradbury was third with 1-15-0 of small roach and perch.
