Brad has a whale of a time

BRAD Whaler produced the best golf of his career to lift the captain's prize at Whittaker. The 17-handicapper got the ball rolling on Saturday with a 67, the best score of the day, which was matched by Simon Molyneux.

Whaler proved it was no flash in the pan 24 hours later by carding an even better 66 for a 133 total and a four shot win over Graham Burrill.

FIFTY something Ted Mitchell showed the younger members of Castle Hawk a trick or two when capturing the captain's prize. His two-round total of 136 gave him a two-shot cushion over Gary Jacques who shot level par over the back nine. Third spot went to Gareth Eccles, one stroke further back.

GAVIN Ogden made the Blincoe Cup at Tunshill something of a one-horse race. Playing off 10 he shot an impressive 63 which gave him a four-shot triumph over Paul Highton.

ANOTHER comfortable winner was Margaret Jameson who scooped the lady captain's prize at Lobden by four strokes over Zoe Durkin and Ann Gibbons.

ONE OF Hopwood's top prizes, the Wilkie Bard Trophy, went to 18-handicapper Derek Williams whose impressive haul of 47 points saw him home with two to spare over Lawrence Boswell.
