Refs society ready to go into new era

RUGBY League referee Ben Whitter is a man with a mission - to breathe new life into Rochdale Rugby League Referees' Society.
The 24-year-old, who is well known in local circles, is keen to sign up new recruits to the refereeing ranks and offer them support.
The Society's new chairman said: "I am hoping to become a Super League referee as soon as possible and hope my success will encourage others to take up the whistle.
"The plan is to give as many rugby leaguers as possible the opportunity to become involved in a rewarding and exciting experience. The old ways are gone. The Society will be fresh, innovative and focused on the continued support and development of referees at every level.
"The town needs a strong refereeing presence. We hope to forge strong links between referees and clubs."
