Weekend doubles just the tonic for Milnrow

IT was doubles all round for Milnrow at the weekend as both first and second teams enjoyed a brace of victories.

On Saturday first-team captain Jon Storey and Kiwi professional Paul Wiseman destroyed Oldham's batting line-up, taking four wickets apiece as the visitors were dismissed for 129. Storey finished with figures of four for 37 while Wiseman claimed four for 39.

Matt Dawson's 51 put Milnrow on the road to victory, and with useful contributions from Steven Hall (21) and Wiseman (36 not out), the visitors comfortably reached their target.

On Sunday Milnrow entertained Monton and Weaste and again ran out comfortable winners.

The visitors were dismissed for 92, Wiseman taking four for 24 and Stephen Lane two for two. Milnrow achieved their target with plenty of wickets to spare after impressive knocks from Hall (24), Wiseman (42 not out) and Max Power (19 not out).

Milnrow 96-2 (S Hall 24, P Wiseman 42no, M Power 19no), Monton and Weaste 92 all out (P Wiseman 4-24, S Lane 2-2). Milnrow (5pts) beat Monton and Weaste (0) by eight wickets.

Milnrow's second team beat Oldham at home and Monton and Weaste away.
