New era begins for Rochdale Golf Club

A NEW chapter in the history of Rochdale Golf Club was started on Saturday when the new clubhouse was officially opened by Tony Moss, the secretary of the English Golf Union.
The £1.8m two-storey edifice, which has been open to members for the last six weeks, replaces the old clubhouse, which was destroyed by fire almost two years ago.
Mr Moss was welcomed by captain Tony Ratchford, president Brian Crabtree and the captain and president of the ladies section, Rosemary Shepherd and Mary Cumberbatch.
Bringing good wishes from the EGU, Mr Moss said he was sure that Rochdale, which had enjoyed an outstanding past, could now look forward to a glorious future.
The members, he said, should be extremely proud of the new clubhouse, which was certain to ensure the growth of golf in Rochdale.
