Sam Tosh is the runner-up in the British Open Fell Runners Association under 14s championship.
The 13-year-old clinched second-place overall after wins at Kendal, Kirby-in-Furness, Reeth and Burnsall. He finished second at Coniston, Kettlewell, Cracoe and Farleton Knott.
A pupil at Oulder Hill Community School, Sam has been fell racing for two years and trains with his club-mates at Marl Pitts, Rawtenstall.
He can also be seen with his faithful companion Joe, a black labrador, tramping the hills near his home in Norden and around Greenbooth Reservoir.
Sam prefers the steep Lakeland courses to the more gradual climbs found elsewhere and he is eagerly looking forward to next season on the fells.
