Armstrong goal wins it for Dalians

CHAMPIONS Rochdalians edged out last season's runners-up Denton Town 1-0 in a hard-fought match at Springhill.
Both sides produced excellent football on a superb surface.
The visitors started strongly, but they were unable to create any clear-cut chances. The best chance fell to Rochdalians' Chris White who forced an excellent save.
Dalians then took control, with Lee Hemmings and Daz Carter running midfield, but chances went begging as the final pass went astray.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first. Denton started well and Dalians battled their way back into the game.
The breakthrough came when Chris Ogunyode charged down an attempted clearance by the keeper before setting up Danny Armstrong for an easy finish past the hapless shot-stopper.
Denton piled on the pressure in the closing stages, but Dalians' defence, brilliantly marshalled by Paul Duffy, held firm.
