FUTURE football stars are getting a boost at Spotland Primary with the help of local coach Marcus Pearson.
The professional instructor spends two days a week at the Edmund Street school to boost physical education. For the past term he's been putting Year 3 pupils through their paces with football skills, and a number of his budding stars have gained Football Association certificates.
"We employ a professional coach to raise the profile of physical education as part of the healthy schools programme," said headteacher Carol McLachlan. "We believe in starting early.
"Marcus runs an after-school sports club which is proving very popular, and there is now a waiting list to join," she added.
