History-making partnership

27/ 2/2004

IT'S the perfect home result for the Lancashire Amateur Football League.

Redrow have been officially unveiled as the League's first sponsor in its 104 years history. The Leigh-based award winning house-building firm has signed an agreement to sponsor the League for the next three years.

Peter Duffy, League Secretary, said: "We are delighted to be associated with such a well known company as Redrow. It is a great opportunity for both the league and clubs to increase their profile and show their communities what a forward thinking and professional organisation they are part of.

"Business sponsorship is now a crucial part of amateur sport, with the ever increasing financial cost of running clubs, and involvement from the business sector can sometimes soften the burden placed on clubs and committees.

"With so many 'amateur' leagues folding, and with many changes taking place on the pyramid of soccer at the end of this current season, this sponsorship agreement will go a long way to ensuring we stay at the forefront of open age football."
