GB student on board for Hornets

GREAT Britain Students second-rower Kris Ratcliffe has signed for Hornets.
The Widnes-based player, pictured, was given the opportunity to show his pedigree in Hornets' superb performance against Oldham. And he came through with flying colours with an impressive stint on attack and defence to prove to coach Bobbie Goulding he was up to the job.
Goulding has assembled a formidable pack, but his quest to strengthen his three-quarter line before Sunday's Arriva Trains Cup match at Hunslet suffered a setback when he failed in his bid to bring in long-time target Jamie Stenhouse to Spotland.
The strong-running former Warrington, Whitehaven and Chorley Lynx centre has decided to stay with Orrell Rugby Union Club until the end of the season.
Goulding is now believed to be talking to former Wakefield and Salford player Kris Tassell.
The 30-year-old Australian centre made 20 appearances for Swinton last term scoring 12 tries. But with fellow Australian Janan Billings already on the books, there may be a problem with the Spotland club's overseas quota.
Hornets' officials are currently assessing the situation.
- HORNETS NestEgg is holding a meeting in the Motorama Lounge tonight at 7.30pm. Bobbie Goulding will attend to answer questions from those present. New members are especially welcome.
- THERE will be a supporters coach to South Leeds stadium on Sunday for Hornets' first game of the season against Hunslet.
The coach will leave from Spotland at 1.15pm and from Rochdale Town Hall at 1.30pm. For bookings and information ring the club on 01706 648004.
