White bags a hat-trick in historic win over Glossop

A SUSANNE White hat-trick secured an historic result for Littleborough as they beat Glossop for the first time. The match ended at 5-3.

White scored twice before half-time, one a wonderful solo effort, but her side were pegged back by determined opponents. Their defending in the second period was outstanding, though, laying the foundation for victory.

Liz Graham gave Boro a boost with an early goal before White's first arrived courtesy of Nicola Horsfall's cross from the right.

Keeper Sarah Simpson had little chance with the Glossop response after the ball was surrendered cheaply in midfield.

Chances went begging at both ends with Graham unable to convert from a short corner. Glossop got their set-piece right to draw level. White was sent clear by Rachel Massey for her brilliant second, but the High Peak side hit back just before the interval.

The second-half plan worked a treat as Boro targeted Glossop's key attacking pair with a man-marking system. This gave the visitors the initiative and Lauren Staverly put them ahead once more with her first goal of the season.

Simpson and player of the match Alison Stiff, who blocked one shot on the line, did well to snuff out any further Glossop threat. White rounded off a great game with her hat-trick goal.
