Proposal to limit bowlers

25/11/2003

Cricket

THE most radical proposal open for discussion at Friday's annual general meeting of the Central Lancashire Cricket League involves the number of overs which players should be allowed to bowl in a match.

Middleton suggest no bowler should be allowed to deliver more than 15 overs in a league game.

If passed, this proposal could lead to clubs going for batting paid men rather than bowling professionals. It could also mean clubs having to field more bowlers in matches, especially due to the rule which limits young bowlers to very few overs.

Middleton also propose overseas amateurs should be banned again.

  • THE Central Lancashire Cricket League is looking for experienced umpires for the 2004 season.

They are also keen to hear from anyone who is interested in taking up umpiring and would like to go on an umpires training course.
