Harriet joins best of British

SPARKS gymnast Harriet Brookes is in seventh heaven.

The nine-year-old star, from Littleborough, is now ranked seventh in Great Britain following the British Age Group Championships, in Guildford, Surrey.

Harriet qualified for the finals as part of the North West team and on the day proved to be best of the bunch. A superb performance saw her emerge as the highest scoring Northern gymnast to help her team to third spot and the bronze medal. She stormed to a stunning seventh place overall and third position on the beam.

Harriet is coached at Sparks Gymnastics Club, Rochdale by Steve Halliwell and former Great Britain international Alex Hall.

Steve said: "This was a great result for Harriet in her first ever national final, and she should now go from strength to strength at this level."
