Mayfield clinch win at last

MAYFIELD gained a long awaited league win over a young Woolston side.

Some early Woolston pressure saw them score an early drop goal.

An outrageous dummy by Mayfield prop Adam Pirouzan, who scored between the sticks, was quickly followed by Steven Bamber crashing over the line out wide.

Mayfield's defence held Woolston at bay until a solo effort by their scrum half saw him score between the posts.

The 12-point gap was restored when Andy Bamber popped up on his brother's wing to score.

Mayfield started the second half the stronger and Steve Bamber's second try looked to have settled the game.

But Woolston stormed back with two converted tries to put some pressure on Mayfield.

This seemed to wake Mayfield up and a try from Richard Higgs restored some breathing space.

Mayfield's final try was a good team effort with Steve Halton being on the end of a fine move..
