Missing trio

27/ 2/2003

ROCHDALE Cricket Club will be missing three familiar faces when the new season starts in April.

The Observer understands that batsmen Daz Cryer, Paul Butterworth and Steve Schofield have moved to Thornham.

Schofield told the Observer: "There's been no fallout with Rochdale. It's just that I'm a family man now and cannot guarantee that I'll be able to play two matches every weekend. At Thornham I'll just be playing once a weekend and that suits me fine. But I do hope to return to Redbrook sometime in the future."

  • ALL-ROUNDER Paul Carroll looks set to continue playing for Norden in the Central Lancashire League this summer. At the end of last season it was rumoured that Carroll would make only occasional appearances for the second team at Woodhouse Lane. But the latest story is that the spin bowler will be available for first team cricket again.

The bad news for Norden fans is that opening bat Andy North will not be playing. He works six days a week and has decided to take a year out from cricket.
