NORTH Manchesters golfer Ian Black won the Rochdale Observer Golf Championship at Pike Fold golf club, Unsworth on Saturday.
On a beautiful sunny afternoon and with the golf course in pristine condition the 6 handicapper saw off a tough challenge from Pike Fold golfer Alan Lane in the semi-finals to win 2 &1 .
In the other semi-final Manchester's Bob Ward overcame Blackley's Alan Howarth, one up to progress to the final.
The final was a tense affair with Black edging ahead on a couplke of occasions.
Thirteen handicapper Ward refused to buckle and used the shots he received well to hang on.
Black clinched the game on the 17th to win 3 & 1.
