Rochdale ………... 4

Cambridge Utd … 3

TWO goals in the 89th and 90th minute from Kevin Townson and Michael Oliver gave Rochdale victory over 10 man Cambridge at Spotland Stadium.

In an incident packed first half, Rochdale made the early running and went ahead as David Bridges diverted a Patrick McCourt cross into his own net.

And when Andy Duncan was sent off in the 13th minute, the writing looked on the wall for the visitors. But Duncan's dismissal was the rallying call for the visitors and Omer Riza found time and space to shoot home.

Cambridge then went ahead as a static home defence allowed Shane Tudor to carry the ball forward and pick his spot.

Rochdale pressed but battling Cambridge held out until the break.

Five minutes into the second half, Gareth Griffiths' poor back pass put Tudor through. His shot was blocked. Tom Young's was brought down as he shaped to shoot. Paul Wamless slotted home the penalty.

On the hour a trademark free kick from Paul Simpson reduced the arrears and gave Dale a glimmer of hope.

Dale continued to press and those two late goals gave Rochdale three points.
