Mayfield coach quits

30/ 5/2002

RL: MAYFIELD rugby league club are looking for a new coach after Ian Taylor resigned due to work commitments.

He said: "I have been offered a new job. Unfortunately it involves working every other weekend and some evenings. So clearly I couldn't continue as coach. Obviously I was disappointed with the season and the response of some of the players, and perhaps a change of face might bring some of the players back."

Taylor, who has been involved in rugby league since he was 15 years old is looking forward to a well-earned rest, although he intends to keep in touch with the Keswick Street club. "I'm not going anywhere else," he added.

"I want a break now. I've been involved with rugby league since I was 15, so it will be nice to sit in by the fire on those wet, cold winter evenings and relax. I'll still be watching and I'll still go along to Mayfield and I'll give them any help when needed."
