MEDAL-winning rower Craig Morgan trains on Hollingworth Lake.
Inspired by Olympic champ

A ROWER who took up the sport after seeing Sir Steve Redgrave gain his fifth Olympic Games gold medal could soon be joining the sport's elite himself.
Craig Morgan was a keen cyclist and was inspired to take up rowing by the exploits of the British Olympic team in Sydney in 2000. Less than two years later Craig is winning prestigious races himself having beaten all his rivals at the Metropolitan Amateur Regatta on Eton's boating lake.
Adrian Stott - Craig's coach at Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club - explained this is one of the most important events on the rowing calendar after the Henley Regatta. Craig's success has made Adrian enter him in the national championships in July.
Adrian said: "Craig's progress has been amazing since he took up the sport and I've never seen anything like it. He won't win the national championships but he should get to the final. This will make selectors start taking notice of him and he could be in with a shout for selection for the national squad next year. Craig is only 24 so he has time on his side to reach the top."
This is Craig's first full season on the water and he earned his first victory at Leicester Regatta in April. He moved up the ranks at Nottingham the following month and earned another success at this event.
