Milnrow voice disappointment

SOME Milnrow supporters are less than happy that their abandoned match against Unsworth at Pole Lane on Saturday cannot be replayed.

The game was called off because Unsworth are having trouble with the drainage system at their new ground, which is in its first season. Parts of the ground were waterlogged when the players arrived on Saturday. League rules do not allow for the game to replayed, so Milnrow will have to be content with two points for a draw, even though the problem was not of their making.

One supporter said: "While we have every sympathy with Unsworth over their predicament, it's not Milnrow's fault that the game could not go ahead. As a result we have lost the possibility of an extra three points. I think there should be something in the rules to cover this.''

The drainage problems at Unsworth have been exacerbated by the heavy rain over the past few weeks. As a result, they still have to finish their Wood Cup quarter final against Radcliffe to see who plays Rochdale in the semi-final on Sunday 30 June.
