Gabs are close to the end

30/ 4/2002

The club actually warned the North West Counties League a couple of weeks ago that a start might not be possible next season, but it is understood that since then moves have been made to try and save the day.

One of the biggest worries has been that of finishing bottom of the table and failing with a re-election plea, but a surge in playing fortunes has lifted Gabs out of bottom spot. Their last eight games have brought five wins and a draw.

Friday's match at Butterworth Park, kick-off 7 45pm, will be against Norton United, and team manager Tom McKenna is hoping for another three points.
