Premier capture shows progress

And Hamilton highlighted the fact that Rochdale had been able to attract a second Premier League player to the club this season as significant progress.

"Darren was pleased to come to Rochdale and it tells you how far this club's come when players of his and Marcus Hahnemann's standing want to come and play for Rochdale Football Club," he said.

"Hopefully he will come in and do the job I know he is capable of.

"He comes on very good recommendation and I've seen him two or three times myself.

"He's 20 - almost the same age as Gary Jones was when he started making a name for himself at Rochdale.

"Darren will be in the shop window here and getting a bit more league experience.

"We're having him for a month and taking things step by step.

"We'll review the situation after that month as to whether he will stay or not."
