Basil is a big hit in cricketing circles

CLL president Paul Rocca said that Basil, who spent most of his playing career with Milnrow, but also played professionally for Castleton Moor, was a credit to the game, and that his crop of youngsters had shown that CLL cricket had a bright future.

Milnrow's Mark Wakefield was awarded the Sir Frank Worrell Trophy as leading amateur run-scorer in the CLL last season, and Middleton's Lee Wolstenholme took the Clifford Pickup Memorial Trophy as the league's leading amateur wicket-taker.

The Lal Vohra Trophy, for the best junior player in the league, went to Milnrow's Mark Forden for the second year running.
