However he was far from pleased with the performance against the lowly visitors who belied their league position early on with tries from Glen Hutton and Brett McDermott, the second converted by Darren Holt, giving them a 10-0 lead.
Hornets snapped out of their lethargy and fought back with converted tries from Sean Cooper and Brendan O'Meara to go two points clear.
Within five minutes of the restart Hornets had almost sealed the match with Cooper notching his second try and James Bunyan adding another.
Further tries followed from Wayne McHugh, Darren Robinson and Marlon Billy, but while Danny Wood also added three more goals the final scoreline flattered Hornets.
They travel to Doncaster on Sunday knowing that they will have to do much better if they are to claim the points.
