Honours galore for Harriers

ROCHDALE HARRIERS received more than 25 trophies at this year's South East Lancs Cross Country League presentations held in Horwich.

Awards were based on the best three of four races in the league this season.

Liam Smith finished second in his junior age group and Georgio Costa was fifth in his age bracket.

The men's over 50 team finished second. Phil Roberts, Ray Dalby, Nigel Shaw and newcomer Mike Winstanley received medals for their efforts.

The highest honours went to Rochdale's lady athletes. They were overall winners of the senior ladies' league.

Carly Needham, Josefa Terim, Huma Rahman, Anna Blomfield, Jan Needham, Kirsten Johnson and Tracey Smith all contributed to the team's success over the season.

Rochdale ladies' teams also won the over 35 and over 40 age categories. Additional counters to these successes included Chris Deasey, Jill Hutchinson, Brenda Robinson and Kay Hill.

Josefa Terim took second place overall in the senior ladies category.

Huma Rahman won the lady veterans 35 category, and Tracey Smith bagged third place. Anna Blomfield was third in the lady veteran 45 class, and Jan Needham was second in the lady veteran 50 category.
