Away blues for Premier teams

4/10/2008

ROCA Juniors crashed to a heavy away defeat in their BKC Trophies Premier Division match against Dog and Partridge.

But they were the only one of five away teams to find the back of the net.

Roca were generally outplayed by Dog whose scorers were Smith (3), Murray, Rose, Thompson and Fielding.

Crofts, Hogan and Shah netted for the visitors.

Harlequins deserved their 4-0 home win over luckless Sudden Carling who tried everything but couldn’t finish.

It was 2-0 at half time, and two goals in the last seven minutes sealed the win.

Scorers were Roberts (2), Wright and Cain.

Nicky Hand was on target twice to help Weavers to a 3-0 home win over Stonemasons. Taylor made up the total.

Tophams bagged one less than Weavers but were still comfortable winners over Fothergill and Whittles.

Smith and Johnson were on target.

One goal proved enough to settle the clash between Asia and Wardle.

Wardle edged the first half but missed their chances.

The deciding goal came on the hour when fullback Abobaker drifted forward to steer the ball past the keeper.

Wardle threw everything at their opponents in the time left, but for them it was one of those days.

Rochdale Asia Canaries hit nine with only one in reply from Sudden seconds in an Asia Restaurant Division One match.

Khalique and Aslam each bagged four, Hussein claiming the odd one.

Hargreaves edged a good, hard fought game against Weavers seconds by the odd goal in five.

Zabez, Crawford and Graham gave Hargreaves the win. B Faulkner and D Faulkner replied.

One of the best games of the day came in the Matthew Montgomery Division Two in which Fothergill and Whittle’s seconds shared eight goals with Castleton.

Curran, Culshaw, Jorgensen and Walsh scored for F and W. Grainger, Holmes, Hilton and Dawood provided the Castleton four.

Pleasant led throughout a quality match against Wardle thirds.

Brown helped himself to a hat-trick and Brooks claimed two.

Goals from McLoughlin, Wood and Oliver kept Wardle in the running.

Baird, Ingham and Blezard gave Woodbank a 3-2 away win over AFC Royton whose scorers were Cole and Roberts.
