Medals galore for Aquabears

SWIMMING: AQUABEAR swimmers enjoyed a successful Central Lancashire Warburton Age Group Gala held over three weekends in Bury.

 Personal best times were plentiful in the individual events, and the medal haul was 28 golds, 21 silvers, and 17 bronze.

Medallists in the 11-year age group were Rhiannon Prestage (silver and two bronze), and Hannah Whitham (bronze).

The 12-year age group saw Laura McDade win two silver and two bronze, while Ian Martin came away with two bronze medals.

 In the 13-year age group Lucy Swithenbank won five golds and a silver. Elliott Wild was awarded two silver and two bronze.

The 14-year section saw Courtney Brook take bronze. Amy Gibson won two silvers. Elspeth Petrycki won a bronze and silver.

James Pritchard swam to two gold, a silver and two bronze, while Daniel Whitham, excelled with five golds and a silver.

For the 15-year squad Helen Shaw claimed two golds, three silvers and two bronze.

Ciaran Gregory won three golds, a silver and a bronze.

Sian Murphy was among the medals in the 16-year section, with two golds, four silvers and a bronze.

The tally for Louise Richards was six golds and a silver. Nichola Shaw won silver, and Carl Naven achieved a golden hat-trick.

 More medals came in the team relays.

To round the meeting off in style Aquabears retained the Bob Foden Memorial RaceTrophy and won the age group shields for 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 years, 16 and over, overall girls and overall boys.
