Pace and power prove decisive

ROCHDALE once again had far too much pace and power for twin town side Tourcoing.

The back row of captain Lee Riddle, Mike Bradwell and Gareth Adams quickly snuffed out any attempts by the visitors to throw the ball about.

The backs had a field day, with both Colts’ players showing their potential.

Jimmy Flitcroft and Callum Mulkeen were soon on the scoreboard, and they were well served by their centres Jonny Mair and Mark Thomas.

The Frenchmen struggled throughout but did get two consolation tries late in the game.

The second team kept up the good work in a hard fought game against a Newport based touring team.

They took the honours with a five points to four try count. Garry Holly showed his skills at out-half and Jim Riddle, who arranged the tour and played for the visitors, showed his speed and agility.

The thirds, not to be outdone, went to Buxton and against the odds beat a much-fancied Buxton second team.

Second team captain Sean Campbell volunteered his services and played a significant part in the victory.
