It's snow joke as Danny goes north

ROCHDALE rugby player Danny Ligairi has been helping the Norwegian team prepare for next year’s World Cup qualifiers in Dubai.
He was asked to fly out at short notice, after they had seen him play in the Dubai Sevens, and run his eye over the Norway squad.
He was in for one or two surprises as he explained: "Schools don’t play rugby as it is regarded as a barbaric sport, which I found amusing as ice hockey, which isn’t the gentlest of sports is very popular.
"Training sessions were held on heated pitches surrounded by six foot snow drifts. I even managed to get to visit an Olympic venue to watch snowboarding and ski-ing after one of the rugby players said I was a member of the Fijian bobsleigh team."
This month Ligairi was set to travel to Denmark and join up with the Norwegian team’s seven-a-side coach and selection committee at the Copenhagen seven-a-side tournament.
Ligairi can call on some big, strong players and his top priority is to bring the seven-a-side team up to scratch.
It’s an exciting challenge for the big Fijian who is set to join Rochdale Rugby Union Club for the coming season.
