Tigers will be tall order

28/ 4/2007

HORNETS face a tough task on their return to league action tomorrow when they travel to play Castleford Tigers.

Coach Darren Abram, whose side has gone three games without a win, take on a side rich in Super League quality and widely tipped for a return to the top flight.

"Everyone said at the start of the season that our division would be a two-horse race between Castleford and Widnes, with most tipping Castleford to win it," said Abram.

"They've kept a lot of the players they had last season and added more Super League players to the squad, so it goes back to the debate about level playing field. It is rumoured they have two players in their squad who earn the equivalent of our squad of 25 players.

"I've watched videos of the home games they have played so far this season and the sides they have beaten have all played well against them. Halifax put up a fight and Batley were superb for 60 minutes against them but still got beat 75-12.

"If you come away from there with anything then it's an outstanding result, but we go there to challenge - not simply to make up the numbers."

Tommy Goulden should be back after missing last Sunday's game due to back spasms but in-form Byron Smith misses after fracturing his little finger in three places in the win over Swinton Lions.

HORNETS' supporters coach to Castleford will leave the Spotland ground at 1.15pm, and from outside the Town Hall at 1.30pm. To book a seat ring Ena on 01706 522982.
