Bobbie made up with draw

15/ 3/2008

"MADE UP". That was Bobbie Goulding’s verdict on Thursday night’s Carnegie Challenge Cup draw.

Hornets have been drawn at home against top Super League club and three times Challenge Cup winners Hull FC.

The Humberside club won the trophy as recently as 2005, when they edged out Leeds Rhinos 25-24 in a thrilling final.

And, importantly, for Hornets and Goulding, they have an excellent following and a good crowd can be expected at Spotland for the match.

"I’m made up," said Goulding. "We might have got a few thousand more at their ground, but Hull are a well supported club and it should be a good pay day for Hornets. We’ll be fired up for it and if they are not quite up for it we are ready to give it our best shot. If we play to the best of our ability, who knows? Mind you if they are fired up and on top form we’ll just take the money and run."

The Hornets boss also appealed to those rugby supporters who don’t go to Spotland regularly to get behind the club, adding: "Hull are a top-six Super League club and it would be nice if we could get 1,500 of our own supporters to turn out on the day and back us.

"If we are to have Super League aspirations and make a serious challenge for a franchise in 2011 it’s important we show we have a strong following. When better to do that than against a team like Hull."

The draw in full is: Batley v Dewsbury , Leigh v Warrington , Workington v Hull KR, Harlequins RL v Castleford, Doncaster v Widnes, Featherstone v Catalans Dragons, Barrow v Hunslet, Salford City Reds v Wakefield, Leeds v Celtic Crusaders, Swinton v Oldham, Bradford v Toulouse XIII, Halifax v Huddersfield, Whitehaven v Lezignan XIII, St Helens v London Skolars, Rochdale Hornets v Hull FC, Wigan v SM Pia XIII

The matches will be played on April 19 and 20 unless mutually agreed otherwise.
