Hornets frozen out

19/ 2/2008

FREEZING temperatures overnight - as low as -8 degrees Celsius - put paid to Hornets Northern Rail Cup match against Oldham Roughyeds, at Spotland on Sunday.

Despite the best efforts of the groundstaff, the third of the pitch in the shadow of the main stand, although covered, was frozen solid and unplayable.

Hornets hope to play the match on Wednesday 5 March, but this is yet to be confirmed.
