Tricky Tolson is star of Potts final

WEAVERS’ reserves claimed a fine 4-2 win over Farewell in the final of the Rochdale Online Alliance League’s C Potts Trophy.

After winning the Division Two title the previous week, Weavers went into the game full of confidence.

Nerves played a large part in the opening 20 minutes, but Weavers then started to play the better football and created chances.

The first goal came after a Farewell player had tried to clear the ball in his own box.

The ball travelled only to the edge of the area where James Tolson neatly controlled it on his chest and volleyed it into a bottom corner.

Farewell had a chance to hit back when striker Milne broke the offside trap, but he fired into the side netting.

As half time approached Weavers’ striker Ben Faulkner made an excellent run which took him to the byline.

He pulled the ball back to Reece Agg whose cross to the far post was met by Ste Faulkner for a headed second goal.

In the second half Weavers began to keep the ball and Farewell began to look a little tired.

Tolson scored his second after playing a neat interchange with Broome.

Farewell then created a couple of chances and scored a well taken goal through Milne .

It was virtually all over when Tolson completed his hat-trick with a first-time shot into a top corner.

But Farewell kept battling and bagged a late second.
