Teams all set for 3v3 kick off

As part of the build-up to the UEFA Cup Final on Wednesday 14 May, at the City of Manchester Stadium, footballers from primary and secondary schools in Greater Manchester will be competing in a fast and furious 3 v 3 street competition.

Heats will be held for the chance to compete in a final match in the middle of the city centre. On offer as the grand prize are tickets to the UEFA Cup Final.

Three separate competitions will run at the same time, with a Primary School league, a Secondary School league for boys in years 10 and 11, and a disability league. Added to this will be a cheerleading competition for Secondary School girls from central and east Manchester areas.

Later in the tournament, as the competition gathers pace, matches will be played on Manchester’s very own brand new 3 v 3 inflatable pitch.

These fantastic few months of football will finish with the Grand Final at Cathedral Gardens on the day of the UEFA final itself on Wednesday 14 May, when fans from across Europe will be in town to enjoy the atmosphere while supporting our home-grown football stars of the future.

The heats kick-off today, 3pm-5pm at Wright Robinson Sports College, with many more matches planned throughout the city in March, April and May.
