Rochdale 1 Shrewsbury 1

Mike Brookes

MANAGER Keith Hill took the opportunity to rest the bulk of his first team ahead of next weekend’s play off semi first leg against Darlington - but his makeshift side almost picked up three points against Shrewsbury.

Dale, who fielded a mix of youth and fringe players, started much the better of the two sides but fell behind after 34 minutes when midfielder Asa Hall glanced home a Ben Davies free-kick.

The home side deservedly drew level on 54 minutes with more than a little help from Shrewsbury keeper Scott Bevan, who spilled a Simon Ramsden cross, failed to recollect it and allowed livewire Chris Dagnall to roll the ball into the empty net.

Rochdale will now face Darlington with the first leg on Saturday May 10.
