Promised Land is on the horizon for Dale

ROCHDALE remained on course for the League Two play-offs with victory over Grimsby on Saturday, keeping alive the dream of promotion in their centenary season.

Rene Howe’s second half hat-trick put paid to the Mariners and lifted Dale into sixth place, ahead of Wycombe on goal difference.

Ahead of Tuesday night’s clash with Notts County, manager Keith Hill said that while games are coming thick and fast, the team’s positive momentum would carry them through.

"The players should want to go again and I know that they do. Sometimes, though, players do get tired and mental tiredness can sometimes play a big part.

"They will respond in the right manner though because they all want to win football matches and get to the Promised Land of the play-off’s. We moved up a place on Saturday and our motivation for Tuesday and the game against Notts County is that we can go three points above Wycombe if we can win the game.

"Obviously we are pleased with our results of late having won four games on the spin."

Lee Thorpe was set to miss the Notts County game due to the dead-leg injury he picked up on Saturday, while Chris Dagnall was expected to play some part having missed out at the weekend due to a virus.
