A SLUGGISH looking Rochdale side were well beaten by their big spending visitors at Spotland.
After a first half of few chances that was dominated by Darren Ferguson's side Dale would have settled for a draw.
Unfortunately, a very rare error by keeper Sam Russell helped give Peterborough the lead as he flapped at a long range George Boyd effort just before the hour.
Dale had an almost immediate chance to draw level but substitute Ben Muirhead failed to find the target from close range.
Peterborugh doubled their lead and ended the game as a contest on 76 minutes when leading scorer Aaron McLean profited from a Boyd pass and calmly slotted past Russell.
