Heywood secure annual cup date

HEYWOOD will meet Monton and Weaste in the John Willie Lees Wood Cup final at The Coppice, Werneth, on Sunday 3 August.
Trophy holders Heywood – winners for the last three years – met Crompton in a semi-final at Crimble on Sunday.
Bobby Cross scored 46 as Heywood totalled 187 for eight. Crompton managed only 137 in reply. Ruvin Peiris took four for 32.
Monton and Weaste entertained Ashton who scored 210 thanks to 99 from professional Ian Daniel.
At one stage Ashton had been 204 for three. Monton replied with 205 for seven, although it took a last-ball six from Ghaurav Sharma to see them through. Sharma finished with 65 runs to his name.
The semi-finals of the JW Lees Twenty20 knockout were postponed last week and will now be played on Friday, start 6.15pm. Oldham host Monton and Weaste, while Unsworth entertain Walsden.
