CLL start is delayed

THE start of the Lake Garage Central Lancashire Cricket League season has been delayed for one week.
Matches due to be played tomorrow will now be played on Saturday 17 May.
They are: Ashton v Radcliffe, Clifton v Unsworth, Heywood v Walsden, Littleborough v Middleton, Norden v Monton and Weaste, Oldham v Crompton, Rochdale v Milnrow, Royton v Werneth.
League officials felt it would have been unwise to go ahead with the fixtures in view of a forecast of bad weather for tomorrow.
There was also the problem of some grounds not being quite ready, as ground staff had not been able to work on them with machinery after the recent snow and rain.
CLL champions Rochdale will play trophy holders Bootle in the first round of the Lancashire knockout, at Redbrook, on Sunday 11 May.
The game will start at 2pm.
LITTLEBOROUGH’S home friendly against York, scheduled for today, has been cancelled in order to protect the pitch. Boro’s EGM goes ahead on Monday, start 8pm in the Willow Room at Hare Hill.
