Invasion call to radio ham

ONE of the first people to respond to frantic calls from the Falklands as the invasion took place was a Rochdale radio ham.
Jim Sunderland from Whitworth Road explained: "I tried to reply to him, but I could not get through.
"Conditions were not very good at that time. When I got back to him later he had got someone from Scotland to reply to him."
Although he was still scouring frequencies used by Falklands radio hams he was not hopeful of any more response.
He said: "If there is a coup or a takeover the first reation of the new rulers is to confiscate amateur radio equipment."
