Storms bring fence move at TBA site
7/ 2/2007
FENCES could be put up around part of the controversial Turner's site because of storm damage.
The owners, MMC Estates, is planning to block off an area near Woodlands Road, where a tree fell into a wall.
The site is earmarked for a 600-home plan that has sparked residents' fears about asbestos contamination.
In a statement, Nigel Moutrey of MMC said: "The council's arboricultural officer has already visited the site to confirm the damage to that tree and others on other parts of the site.
"We will await formal confirmation from him that they can be made safe before any action is taken.
"We are doing this, despite the fact that legally it is unnecessary to await approval before commencing with the necessary works, in the hope that we will avoid any unnecessary concern and speculation."
