HEALTH representatives from across the North West will be ready to answer questions about the future of accident and emergency services at Rochdale Infirmary on Thursday.

The Friends of Our Hospital have organised a public meeting at St Mary's Church, Littleborough, from 6.30pm.

Local residents, hospital patients, and interested groups can attend and discuss issues relating to changes in urgent accident and emergency care.

Representatives from Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust, the Pennine Acute Trust and the North West Ambulance Service will be there to answer questions.

And members of the Patients' Council and representatives of the North West Strategic Health Authority will also be on hand.

Councillor Jean Ashworth, a member of the friends group, said: "The main issues are what exactly a locality hospital is and any concerns about accident and emergency.

"The children's decision is set to be made on Friday 8 December so we will be concerning ourselves with accident and emergency.

"Posters have been put up around the area so we are hoping for a good turnout."

Questions for representatives can be submitted prior to the meeting on 653787 or by sending them to 34 Hollow Spell, Wardle, OL12 9AW.
