Wedding bells for old school pals

A CHILDHOOD friendship between two classmates blossomed into romance and marriage for Rory Bowers and Danielle Magee.

Rory and Danielle were in the same class and remained good friends throughout their time at Oulder Hill School, from the age of 11 to 16.

They lost touch after leaving school to go to college and university.

But three years later they met again by chance at Ashbourne Nursing Home. Love blossomed and the former classmates in form S2 at Oulder Hill became partners in life.

Twenty-six-year-old Rory and 25-year-old Danielle, from Zion Terrace, Norden, were married at St Paul's Church, Norden.

Danielle was given away at their wedding by their friend David Prescott, who was also in the same class at Oulder Hill School.

And the best man was Andrew Cotterill, another school pal.

The newlyweds held their reception at the Norton Grange Hotel and enjoyed a honeymoon in Cuba.

Rory and Danielle are both recruitment consultants.

Rory, who is also manager of Norden Sunday League football team, works for a firm in Manchester and Danielle in Altrincham.

Danielle said: "We didn't keep in touch after leaving school, but we met again when I was looking after his great aunt at Ashbourne Nursing Home. Two years later we became a couple after a night out in Rochdale. Rory and I went through school together, but we were never boyfriend and girlfriend. I was a bit of a tomboy and I was friends with boys at school, including Rory.

"I never expected that one day we would be married."
