WHITWORTH Road in Healey is now open again after police were forced to close parts of it for more than an hour this afternoon when a car overturned.

Shortly after 3pm on Tuesday 10 November, police were called to Whitworth Road, close to Healey Corner, following a report of a road traffic collision.

Officers attended and discovered a black Chevrolet Matiz had overturned while travelling down Whitworth Road.

The occupants, a man and a woman from Bacup, were cut free of the car by emergency services and taken to hospital.

Initial reports suggested that they had been seriously harmed in the crash, but they were later found to have suffered no obvious injuries.

Road closures which were put in place have now been lifted.
