LINK4LIFE has withdrawn its controversial planning application for a golf driving range in Springfield Park amid massive opposition to the scheme.
Campaigners opposed to the range were informed that the application had been revoked, shortly before the Observer went to press on Tuesday.
The move comes after the application was met with a raft of objections from park users, as well as a number of high profile objections, including one from Sport England, the body which works as part of the government department for culture sport and media.
The Friends of Springfield Park group is now seeking assurance that the application will not be resubmitted in the near future, and that the existing objections would still stand if that did happen.

I'm sure many will deny it, but I think it's all down to money.
If Link4Life wants to do something even more useful then promote cycling a lot more. Besides, with cycling there is no need to rip-up even more public recreational ground and devote simply to golf and nothing more.
